Volcan del Salvador is a stratovolcano located in El Salvador, Central America. It is also known as the Santa Ana Volcano. It is the highest volcano in El Salvador with an elevation of 2,381 meters (7,812 ft).
The volcano has had at least twenty-three confirmed eruptions since the 16th century, with the most recent activity reported in 2005. The eruptions have caused significant damage to surrounding towns and cities, and have also led to the formation of a crater lake within the volcano known as Coatepeque Caldera.
While the volcano is considered active, it is monitored by the Salvadoran Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources and the National Service of Territorial Studies to ensure the safety of nearby inhabitants. The area around the volcano is also a popular destination for tourists, with hiking trails, hot springs, and other natural attractions.
